Katherine Audas is an 18 year old senior at Boise High School. She currently studies with Dr. Jesus Castro-Balbi, Professor of Cello at TCU and member of the Clavier Trio. Katherine has performed in master classes for Christopher Adkins, Thomas Loewenheim, Gautier Capuçon, Ko Iwasaki, and Ralph Kirshbaum. She will be entering the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University this fall to study with Norman Fischer.
After winning their young artist competition, Katherine made her solo debut with the Meridian Symphony at the age of 11. More recently, she has performed with the San Juan Symphony, the Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra, the Music in the Mountains Conservatory Orchestra, the TCU Chamber Orchestra, the Symphony of Toys in Dallas, the Boise Philharmonic, and the Walla Walla Symphony. For the last two years, Katherine placed 1st in the Idaho State Music Education Association’s state cello competition, and, last year, she won the high school division of the International Crescendo Music Awards in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
