Jeffrey Hood, from Portage, Michigan, began playing the cello at the age of 2 with a toy guitar and a chopstick for a bow, and began real cello lessons a year later. He joined the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in 2011. After graduating from the Interlochen Arts Academy, he received a Bachelor of Music Degree and Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music and a Masters Degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Primary teachers include Steven Doane, Stephen Geber and Crispin Campbell. He spent two years as a fellow with the New World Symphony, and was a member of the Canton Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and at festivals including Verbier, Tanglewood, Sarasota, Spoleto USA, and Meadowmount. As a chamber musician, Jeff has performed all over the United States and Europe, and has appeared on the Dutch television show Vrije Geluiden.
